Patient Care Assistant

Position Overview:
The Patient Care Assistant is responsible for delivering essential daily nursing support and services to assigned patients, adhering to their individualized care plans and under the guidance of the supervising nurse.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the safety and well-being of patients/residents.
2. Manage the application and removal of restraints, while facilitating exercise routines.
3. Assist residents with mobility, including transfers to and from beds and wheelchairs, utilizing proper techniques and equipment.
4. Provide assistance with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
5. Support residents with their dietary needs, including meal distribution and monitoring intake.
6. Aid in the admission, discharge, and transfer processes, while understanding and implementing care plans.
7. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene by managing bedpans and catheter care.
8. Offer hydration and monitor fluid intake, ensuring timely distribution of fresh water.
9. Document patient care accurately, reporting any changes in condition to the nursing staff.
10. Conduct routine health checks, including vital signs, and report findings appropriately.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and staff.
- Ability to respond compassionately to patient concerns and inquiries.
- Participation in ongoing education and training to stay current in the field.
- Commitment to respecting patient rights and maintaining confidentiality.
- Adherence to safety protocols and infection control measures.
- Flexibility to perform additional duties as assigned by the nursing supervisor.
