Position Overview:
The Lead School Age Care Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the planning, execution, and assessment of group activities at designated sites.

The role focuses on delivering quality recreational experiences for children, emphasizing the YMCA's core values of caring, equity, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Site Director in planning, supervising, and implementing program activities.
  • Travel locally to various program sites as needed.
  • Assist in promoting the program through communication with parents and the community.
  • Provide guidance to program staff during shifts, aiding the Site Director in supervision and training.
  • Regularly assess the program and suggest improvements to the Site Director.
  • Maintain a clean and organized site.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including record-keeping and managing forms.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Relationships:
This position reports directly to the Site Director and collaborates with participants, parents, staff, school personnel, and the broader community.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working with school-aged children or in a similar role.
  • Background check and state fingerprinting required upon hire.
  • Certification in Adult and Child CPR or the ability to obtain it within 30 days.
  • Knowledge of child development, guidance, and recreational programming.
  • Commitment to working with diverse populations.

Preferred:

  • Degree in education, recreation, or a related field.
  • Experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Familiarity with planning and implementing school-age recreation programs.

Work Environment:
Must be able to actively engage in youth activities, including swimming and field trips. The role requires physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds and maintaining supervision during various activities.
