Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst

Join The George Washington University as a Senior Financial Analyst and contribute to the success of our Finance Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing complex analytical and administrative duties to drive financial analysis, trending, and forecasting operations within the School of Public Health.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with finance staff to prepare multi-year budget projections and forecasts, detailed account analysis, and tracking of trends.
  • Run financials from enterprise systems and provide periodic reports to the Finance Director, managing FD and departments, including explanations for resource allocation and recommendations for corrective action.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, analyze and track research financials, mitigate potential risks, and research industry best practices.
  • Identify gaps in business processes and procedures and support the Finance Director and Managing Finance Director in developing internal financial and budget management policies, procedures, and procedures to enhance information flow and maintain accurate records for the school.
  • Assist with developing financial models for key strategic and financial activities, including new program initiatives, and creating and maintaining programmatic profitability analysis models with the Finance Director and/or Managing Finance Director.
  • Complete extensive reporting, including budget reports for several departments, ad-hoc reports, and other requests for financial information.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Advanced degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is desired.
  • Advanced Excel modeling and analysis skills are valued.
  • Experience in identifying and creating internal control systems is desired.
  • Prior experience with Oracle, Banner, Concur, and other systems utilized at the University is highly preferred.
