REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
  • PhD in chemical engineering, ideally with a focus on adsorption-based separation technologies.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in CO2 capture technologies and processes, including development and techno-economic assessments.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in managing technical engineering projects.

    • Innovative and pioneering mindset.
    • Ability to influence outcomes in a collaborative environment with various external partners.
    • Technical leadership and organizational capabilities to coordinate multi-disciplinary collaborations.

INTERNATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:

ACTIVITIES:
  • Identify and select the most promising technology developers through comprehensive scouting.
  • Define the project scope with clear objectives and milestones, along with the organizational structure involving partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage the collaborative contractual framework with technology developers.
  • Engage an engineering firm to conduct process design and technical cost evaluations in collaboration with developers.
  • Conduct thorough scientific and technical assessments of selected technologies.
  • Deliver technical evaluations, conceptual plant designs, cost analyses, life cycle assessments, safety considerations, and risk management plans.
  • Employ a balanced management approach with partners to foster collaboration and innovation while ensuring project timelines and budgets are adhered to.
  • Regularly visit partners to establish constructive relationships based on mutual trust.
  • Provide scientific and technical support to partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Advocate for HSE initiatives and promote a strong awareness of HSE matters among partners.
  • Ensure technical excellence in proposed solutions and uphold high standards in internal reporting.
  • Stay updated on relevant technological advancements and adjust project scope as necessary.
  • Encourage technical innovation both internally and externally when appropriate.

Beyond capturing CO2 from industrial sources, large-scale removal of CO2 from the atmosphere will be essential to combat climate change. Direct Air Capture is one of the solutions that can deliver negative emissions when paired with geological storage, serving as a key component in the transition to net zero e-fuels. Current first-generation DAC technologies are still expensive and demand significant low-carbon energy. The aim of the role is to assess innovative technologies capable of maximizing carbon negativity at a reasonable cost, fostering a highly collaborative approach with selected startups.
