Join the NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities as a Medical Specialist 1 and contribute to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
Job Summary:The Medical Specialist 1 will provide specialized medical care to individuals with developmental disabilities, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of medical conditions. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and support.
Key Responsibilities:- Diagnosis and Treatment: Conduct physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and determine diagnoses. Prescribe and administer treatments, medications, and therapies as needed.
- Medical Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including individual information, test results, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work with healthcare professionals, families, and caregivers to ensure continuity of care and provide education on medical conditions and treatment plans.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain and enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
- License to Practice Medicine: Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State.
- Residency Training: Successful completion of a residency training program in a specialty approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
- Medicare and Medicaid Eligibility: Eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs.
