Job Title: Medical Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Specialist to join our team at the NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities. As a Medical Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality medical care to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and Treat Patients: Conduct physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and determine diagnoses to provide effective treatment plans.
  • Prescribe and Administer Treatments: Prescribe and administer medications, therapies, and other medical treatments to prevent or treat illness, disease, or injury.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals: Work with other healthcare professionals to achieve treatment goals and ensure continuity of care.
  • Provide Education and Support: Explain medical procedures, test results, and treatment plans to patients and their families, and provide emotional support and guidance as needed.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient histories, test results, and treatment plans.
Requirements:
  • License to Practice Medicine: Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State.
  • Residency Training Program: Successful completion of a residency training program in your specialty approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
  • Medicare and Medicaid Eligibility: Eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs.
