Job Overview

Position: Lead Fleet Steward

JBar Enterprises is seeking a highly skilled master mechanic to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing a group of mechanics and technicians, conducting diagnostic evaluations on diesel vehicles, interpreting diagnostic results, and executing repairs or replacements of critical components such as engines, steering systems, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.

This role requires exceptional organizational skills and effective communication to maintain comprehensive records of serviced vehicles while collaborating with team members and management on a daily basis. The master mechanic will take a hands-on approach in leading the shop team to ensure the optimal performance of the JBar fleet, which includes vocational trucks, generators, and equipment pumps.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on various vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, and electrical components.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards by inspecting vehicles for necessary safety features and functionality.
  • Promote a safe working environment by identifying hazards and ensuring proper safety protocols are followed.
  • Mentor and train junior technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Assist in the development and revision of operational policies and procedures.
  • Minimize vehicle downtime through effective maintenance practices and inspections.
  • Collaborate with inventory personnel to manage repair parts and supplies.
  • Document and communicate maintenance activities and team needs accurately.
  • Prepare detailed mechanical maintenance reports to analyze trends and performance.
Qualifications
  • Possession of at least three current ASE certifications from the A1-A8 or T1-T8 series, with relevant work experience. ASE Certified Master Technician preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, along with troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications including email and document management.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Strong customer service orientation and multitasking abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Licenses
  • Valid Class C driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • State of Texas Vehicle Inspector certification is preferred.
