Job Title: Service Technician

Job Summary:

The City of Burnet, Texas is seeking a highly skilled Service Technician to join our team. As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for performing specialized duties in relation to electric meter maintenance, reading, and customer service work orders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and record consumption of residential and commercial electric meters using mobile and hand-held reading devices and manual reads.
  • Respond to customer service requests, including connections, disconnects, rereading meters, and emergency callouts.
  • Operate equipment for meters and other electrical equipment.
  • Perform maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
  • Trim trees away from electrical lines.
  • Maintain electrical lines and other electrical facilities.
  • Observe safety rules for assigned job responsibilities and perform safety tests of equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and update documentation.
  • Install and repair streetlights.
  • Maintain records of work performed and materials used.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Two (2) years of customer service experience
  • Ability to learn and apply local, state, and federal regulations
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and potential hazards
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively

Work Environment:

Tasks involve operation of vehicles, equipment, machines, and various tools. Tasks require strength and mobility to work in a typical field setting, including operating hand and power tools; stamina to perform sustained physical labor, including driving, standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and working in confined or awkward spaces; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
