Our team is tasked with managing the tax calculation platform, which delivers essential services for calculating taxes (including sales tax and VAT) for all Amazon transactions, both physical and digital, across the globe. We are dedicated to ensuring that the correct tax amounts are provided to customers at the time of order, while also maintaining secure audit records to comply with global tax regulations. Our team navigates the complexities of ever-evolving global tax rates and laws, ensuring accurate calculations at high speeds, with each transaction requiring precision. We operate as a core Tier 1 service within the eCommerce Foundations Stack, playing a crucial role in Amazon's compliance, business continuity, and all financial and retail transactions.

Position Overview:

The eCF TAX team is in search of a Cloud Operations Engineer to enhance and redesign Native AWS solutions, develop impactful features and tools, and collaborate with finance and Tax engine business leaders within the Ordering Stack.

As a Cloud Operations Engineer, your role will involve providing operational support for your team, identifying and resolving the root causes of operational challenges. You will work closely with Data Engineers, Software Development Engineers, and Systems Engineers to construct and maintain CI/CD pipelines, ETL pipelines, and event monitoring solutions at scale. Your contributions will help shape the strategic direction and decisions for data integration and monitoring of critical Tier 1 services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and monitor multiple AWS Accounts.
  • Address both tactical and strategic challenges concurrently.
  • Design secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to define infrastructure and deployment requirements.
  • Provision, configure, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with configuration management tools.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based systems (Amazon Linux 2 AMI).
  • Resolve Problem Management and Resolution tickets.
  • Maintain environment security in accordance with best practices.
  • Monitor AWS Services and their integration with other applications, providing usage and performance metrics.
  • Participate in production support duties during off-hours, on a rotational basis.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in software development or technical support.
  • Proficiency in scripting with modern programming languages.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
  • Familiarity with agile/scrum or similar collaborative workflows.
  • Ability to document findings and troubleshoot effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of distributed and enterprise applications.
  • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems.
  • Experience in analyzing and troubleshooting RESTful web API calls.
