Equity Research Analyst

Alger is seeking a highly skilled Equity Research Analyst to join our Small and Mid-Cap team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the Healthcare sector, with a focus on Biotechnology and Medical Devices.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyze financial statements, interview company management, and build detailed financial/valuation models.
- Track biotech sector and medical device themes, and identify new areas of focus.
- Stay up-to-date on scientific and clinical literature.
- Develop and maintain proprietary data tracking industry research files.
- Interact with sell-side analysts, healthcare industry contacts, and senior management of companies to develop investment theses.
- Conduct maintenance research and reports on business news and portfolio holdings.
- Minimum 8+ years of analyst experience on the buy side or equivalent industry training and experience focused within the healthcare sector.
- In-depth understanding of the biotechnology sector and medical devices.
- Knowledge of companies with the potential to disrupt and grow within their industry.
- Proven quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities, including financial modeling, industry and product analysis, and report writing.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- High level of self-motivation and work ethic, with the ability to complete assignments quickly and accurately.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented fast-paced environment, prioritizing projects and managing multiple tasks.
- Positive attitude, with a willingness to attack challenging intellectual problems.
- Strong competitive spirit and desire to succeed.
- Undergraduate degree in a finance, science, mathematics, engineering, liberal arts, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, with a strong GPA.
- Strong accounting and finance skills.
- CFA preferred.
