Role Summary:
The Educational Support Specialist is responsible for providing assistance to students with their daily living activities and direct care tasks, enhancing their quality of life and enabling them to thrive in an educational environment while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with the classroom teacher to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere by maintaining student behavior and engagement.
2. Support assigned students with instructional activities, including reviewing assignments and simplifying instructions as needed.
3. Attend to the personal needs of students, which may include assistance with hygiene, mobility, and medical monitoring.
4. Implement specific strategies outlined in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student, including behavior management and communication with families.
5. Collect and document data as directed by the teacher or administration, such as progress notes and behavior charts.
6. Accompany students during transitions, meals, and extracurricular activities as required by their IEP.
7. Assist therapy professionals during sessions as necessary.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education and training.
- Registration or certification as mandated by state regulations.
- Current CPR certification.
- Proficiency in clinical assessments and documentation.
- Basic computer skills.

Preferred Experience:
- Experience working with pediatric and adult populations as appropriate.

Skills and Abilities:
- Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
- Effective communication abilities.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Capability to engage in prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
- Must possess visual and hearing acuity and the ability to respond to emergency situations effectively.

Work Environment:
- Must be adaptable to various environments, potentially facing exposure to allergens and infectious materials.
