Security Vulnerability Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

This role involves conducting thorough evaluations of IT controls and protocols to ensure adherence to organizational standards, while also providing recommendations aimed at bolstering security measures, enhancing operational workflows, and improving overall efficiency. The position requires the application of advanced consulting techniques, deep technical knowledge, and comprehensive industry insights. The specialist will devise innovative strategies to tackle intricate challenges and will operate with a high degree of autonomy, offering mentorship and guidance to junior team members. The role includes the essential capabilities to identify vulnerabilities in both internal and external web applications, as well as web security devices, including Web Application Firewalls, through both unannounced and collaborative security evaluations and automated scanning processes.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in executing manual penetration tests on web applications, targeting both internal and external systems to uncover vulnerabilities aligned with the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) Top 10, the Mitre ATT&CK framework, Mitre Common Attack Pattern Enumeration and Classification (CAPEC), or Mitre Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE).
  • Proficiency in implementing a systematic and documented assessment methodology, including NIST SP.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science.
  • Relevant certifications such as GICSP, Cloud+, GCED, PenTest+, Security+, or GSEC.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with automated web application vulnerability scanning tools and situational awareness platforms, including Acunetix, Fiddler, WebInspect, Netsparker, and Expanse eXpander.

Clearance Requirements:
Selected candidates will undergo a security investigation and may need to fulfill eligibility criteria for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is mandatory.
