POSITION OVERVIEW: The role involves delivering technical and procedural assistance, along with innovative solutions for enterprise systems and infrastructure tailored to shipside operations and revenue-generating business units across the fleet. This includes overseeing both new build and existing Virtual Machine (VM) environments. The position requires a thorough technical evaluation of business requirements related to application systems, ensuring support through specification, installation, testing, and monitoring of information systems and peripherals in alignment with corporate standards to achieve operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, customize, and maintain system software, program product software, and VM environments for vessels and associated departments. Continuously monitor the performance and reliability of operating systems and program products to enhance computer systems utilization for optimal corporate investment returns.
  • Manage applications and related activities with systems such as Napa, AMOS, and OASIS, including other related systems like E-Logs, BlackBart, QUICKETS, and Super-Play Mate.
  • Conduct daily operations to support these systems, which include query analysis, report generation, business analysis, and initial troubleshooting. Responsible for installing and configuring daily application tasks, data warehousing, database backups, interfaces, and server builds, which encompass Operating System and Oracle database installation and configuration.
  • Provide level-2 support for server hardware, Windows operating systems, SAN/NAS environments, systems management, and virtualization systems. Collaborate with third-party vendor support organizations to document and resolve intricate technical issues and to schedule and implement necessary maintenance updates. Manage complex and high-risk changes to critical production business systems.
  • Oversee diagnostic and problem resolution activities to address any technical issues that may arise. Participate in the development and enforcement of systems standards and procedures, ensuring that technical solutions for ships and related shoreside operations align with the overall corporate architectural direction.
  • Schedule, monitor, and execute SOX-related audits, reports, and other compliance activities.
  • Implement enterprise solutions and associated hardware for new builds and system upgrades, particularly for complex VM environments.
  • Engage in the research, planning, and execution of technical solutions that will fulfill the current and future systems needs of shoreside and shipside departments within the framework of corporate objectives.
  • Manage special projects from conception to execution, facilitating the integration of technologies and tracking deliverables.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree

FIELD OF STUDY: Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 4 years of experience in enterprise server support, technical infrastructure, and software support or development.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in supporting, constructing, and maintaining virtual environments.
  • Experience with Napa, AMOS, and OASIS is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with cruise industry operations for shipside and shoreside and overall business application systems is preferred.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Technical expertise in server hardware, internal components, Windows server operating systems, virtual technologies, and SAN/NAS technologies.
  • Solid understanding of Oracle Database Server and application server methodologies.
  • Basic knowledge of integration with third-party systems, including property management systems, point of sale, interactive TV, phone PBX, door lock management, crew management, inventory, weight and balance, and casino systems.
  • Extensive experience in troubleshooting hardware errors to identify potential solutions and evaluate them for technical feasibility and business suitability.
  • Ability to independently manage project operations, applications design, network design, implementation and support, application monitoring, documentation, and production support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with internal business stakeholders and vendors on system specifications, requirements, and recommendations. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to be on call to support shipside enterprise system issues.
  • Ability to travel on short notice to resolve onboard issues.
  • Preferred ability to obtain and maintain a valid Transport Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, averaging 20-25% of the time.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

  • Preferred certifications include VCP, MCSA, MCTS, or MCSE.
