Job Overview:

Primoris Industrial & Civil is on the lookout for a skilled Project Controls Engineer in the field of project management. Ideal candidates will have a robust background in scheduling and financial oversight. Proficiency in Primavera P6 is essential for this role. This position requires the ability to efficiently track and manage project timelines, financial resources, and overall project health. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise to enhance project outcomes and ensure effective project execution.

Job Responsibilities:

The Project Controls Engineer (Schedule & Cost) will undertake various responsibilities to support project initiatives and collaborate with the Project Manager. Key duties include the following:
  • Creation of the CPM Baseline Schedule utilizing Primavera, which encompasses:
    • Logically sequenced activities
    • Resource allocation for scheduled tasks
    • Integration of subcontractor timelines into the overall Master Schedule
  • Coordination with the Estimating Team, Project Manager, Project Superintendent, and Project Engineer to develop the project schedule.
  • Conducting weekly updates of the Schedule, including analysis of any discrepancies from the original plan and offering solutions.
  • Implementing weekly PSC schedule quality checks to maintain schedule integrity.
  • Transforming the project Estimate into a Control Budget by cost account and entering it into Ecosys for effective cost management.
  • Establishing Earned Value Progress in Ecosys for the project.
  • Performing daily site inspections to verify reported progress.
  • Reviewing daily craft timesheets for accurate cost coding.
  • Examining Material Requisitions and Subcontracts daily for proper cost coding.
  • Generating weekly reports on Project Cost and Progress, including analysis of budget deviations and recommendations.
  • Distributing Schedule, Cost, and Progress reports on a weekly basis.
  • Managing Change Control by maintaining an updated Project Change Log and reflecting approved change orders in the Project Schedule and Cost Budget.
  • Conducting Project Forecasting for Schedule and Cost at completion.
  • Preparing the monthly Key Project Report (KPR) for management review.
  • Assisting Project Managers in formulating delay claim impacts.
  • Supporting Project Managers in developing recovery schedules.
  • Participating in various meetings with clients and project teams.
Qualifications:
  • Five to ten years of experience in project controls, specifically in scheduling and cost management.
  • Expertise in Primavera P6 scheduling software.
  • Experience with Ecosys is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform tasks efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in creating, managing, and analyzing construction project schedules.
  • Detail-oriented with the capability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Professional demeanor and positive conduct at all times.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to adapt and perform in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Successful completion of a post-offer drug/alcohol screening and background check.
