Position Overview:
The Advanced Radiologic Specialist II is responsible for executing DXA Bone Density assessments (training provided) and performing specialized imaging techniques to generate high-quality diagnostic images for physicians and healthcare professionals. This role requires independent work, utilizing sound judgment and honed clinical skills to conduct safe and accurate procedures, ensuring timely delivery of results. Building trust and cooperation with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members is essential through proficient patient evaluation, vigilant monitoring, and effective communication. Compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures is critical to safeguarding patient privacy and ensuring optimal care. Additionally, this position may involve conducting specific procedures and mentoring new staff within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a range of diagnostic radiographic examinations.
- Operate sophisticated stationary and mobile imaging equipment.
- Ensure timely completion of routine and priority tasks in accordance with departmental guidelines.
- Assist physicians during various radiological diagnostic and guidance imaging procedures.
- Clearly explain procedures, medications, or contrast media to patients to alleviate concerns and anxiety.
- Support and mentor students and new technologists, fostering a positive learning environment.
- Perform clerical tasks, including answering calls, updating patient appointments, and managing electronic health records (EHR).
- Accurately document patient information, procedures, and exam charges.
- Manage inventory and order supplies to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Implement safety measures to minimize radiation exposure (ALARA) for staff and patients.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including the disinfection of equipment post-procedure.
- Regularly inspect and calibrate equipment, documenting quality control results and reporting malfunctions.
- Uphold the confidentiality of all patient protected health information (PHI).
- Conduct quality radiographic examinations in line with departmental standards and regulatory requirements.
- Administer and document medications and contrast media per state and federal guidelines.
- Maintain certification and complete required continuing education to meet accreditation and licensure standards.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program.
- CRT-Certified Radiologic Technologist (from the state of practice).
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider upon hire.
- RHF-Radiology Fluoroscopy certification within 180 days of hire if required.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of diagnostic radiology principles, procedures, and equipment.
- Ability to perform routine radiographic examinations and a basic understanding of human anatomy and medical terminology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying sensitive information to diverse audiences.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and related information systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Capable of identifying and resolving standard problems using established solutions.
- Commitment to maintaining patient privacy and building collaborative relationships with healthcare colleagues.
