AvaMed Workforce is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team in a Full-Time assignment at a correctional facility in California. As a key member of our mental health team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality psychological services to inmates, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
Key Responsibilities- Consult with supervisors, treatment team members, and CDCR institutional healthcare personnel to develop and implement effective treatment plans.
- Document all care provided to inmates, including face-to-face contacts and Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IOTT) meetings.
- Monitor inmate progress using CDCR Mental Health approved documentation formatting for progress notes.
- Apply community standards of practice for non-medical treatment modalities and ethical standards.
- Perform mental status exams (MSE) in face-to-face clinical interviews.
- Examine prior mental health records, institutional charts, probation reports, court records, and other available documents to assist in the formulation of patient diagnoses and aid in the development of treatment plans.
- Conduct mental health education and develop additional resources for mentally ill and sex offender patients.
- Assist patients in applying for entitlement benefits (SSI), community programs, and services.
- Facilitate patient transitions between various settings within the institution.
- Perform pre-release functions for releasing patients, including patient education and facilitating transition to county mental health and community mental health treatment programs.
- Perform medical social functions as needed, particularly in CTC settings.
- Participate in IDTT meetings.
- Compile and analyze data from audits pertaining to mental health program requirements.
- Provide information to support staff for data entry.
- Provide written reports and consult with the Board of Prison Hearings and other CDCR staff.
- Develop a therapeutic relationship with patients, families, and caregivers to enhance effective treatment delivery.
- Represent the Department at formal and informal settings regarding mental health matters related to clinical social work.
- Protect and maintain safety and security of property, including documentation of unusual occurrences and inventory control of psychological testing material, reference material, computers, and other equipment.
- Maintain order and supervise the conduct of persons committed to the correctional facility to prevent escapes or injury to themselves or others.
