Job Summary

AvaMed Workforce is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team at a correctional facility in Chowchilla, CA.


Job Responsibilities
  • Consult with supervisors, treatment team members, and CDCR institutional health care personnel on complex cases.
  • Document all care provided to inmates, including face-to-face contacts and Interdisciplinary Treatment Team meetings.
  • Monitor inmate progress using CDCR Mental Health approved documentation formatting for progress notes.
  • Apply community standard of practices for non-medical treatment modalities and ethical standards.
  • Perform mental status exams in face-to-face clinical interviews.
  • Examine prior mental health records, institutional chromos, probation reports, and court records to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Conduct mental health education and develop resources for mentally ill and sex offender patients.
  • Assist patients in applying for entitlement benefits and community programs.
  • Facilitate patient transitions between settings within the institution.
  • Perform pre-release functions, including patient education and transition to county mental health and community mental health treatment programs.
  • Participate in IDTT meetings and compile data from audits.
  • Provide written reports and consult with the Board of Prison Hearings and other CDCR staff.
  • Develop a therapeutic relationship with patients, families, and caregivers to enhance effective treatment delivery.
  • Represent the Department at formal and informal settings regarding mental health matters.
  • Protect and maintain safety and security of property, including documentation of unusual occurrences and inventory control.
  • Maintain order and supervise the conduct of persons committed to the correctional facility.
