Job Overview

Position: Mobile Security Officer (also known as Security Guard) (Guard I)

Shift: Day Shift: 7:00am - 4:00pm

This role reports directly to the Safety, Security, and Transportation Manager and is classified as an hourly, non-exempt position. The Mobile Security Officer is tasked with upholding all laws, regulations, and policies as established by the Safety and Security Department. This position emphasizes a commitment to preparing youth for future employment by exemplifying, mentoring, and monitoring excellence in key Career Success Standards, including workplace relations and ethics, information management, communication skills, multicultural awareness, personal growth and development, career and personal planning, interpersonal skills, and independent living.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Exemplifies and adheres to the core values and operational principles of Covenant Learning Solutions.
  • Implements all authorized laws, rules, and regulations effectively.
  • Conducts patrols and alarm duties in designated areas to safeguard life and property against theft, vandalism, fire, and other emergencies.
  • Provides vehicle transportation support under the supervision of management, ensuring compliance with all directives.
  • Assists visitors, students, and staff as needed.
  • Performs regular security and safety inspections of facilities.
  • Handles complaints and conducts preliminary investigations as necessary.
  • Maintains positive relationships with local law enforcement agencies.
  • Offers escort services as required.
  • Investigates vehicular incidents occurring on-site.
  • Issues visitor passes and temporary vehicle permits.
  • Prepares detailed accident reports and maintains a security log.
  • Enforces the center's pass policy.
  • Participates in mandatory training sessions.
  • Engages in the disciplinary process as per established protocols, including a zero-tolerance policy for violence and substance abuse.
  • Assists with reception duties and manages the staff/student/visitor control area.
  • Acts as a switchboard operator when necessary.
  • Complies with the Covenant Learning Solutions Quality Assurance Plan.
  • Effectively communicates and models essential employability skills, including personal accountability and computer proficiency.
  • Ensures the safety and accountability of staff, students, and property while adhering to best practices.
  • Fosters a safe and respectful environment free from harassment and bullying.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred: At least one year of experience in a security department, law enforcement agency, military service, or related security roles.
  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is mandatory.

Additional Qualifications: Knowledge of crowd control techniques and law enforcement procedures is preferred. CPR/FA Certification is required. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. The role requires proficiency in operating office equipment and driving vehicles. Candidates must be able to collaborate effectively with team members and maintain positive working relationships with all staff and departments.
