Job Summary

The Department Specialist will play a crucial role in maintaining a proper in-stock level of merchandise and providing exceptional customer service. This individual will be responsible for ensuring a clean and orderly sales floor, as well as assisting with daily maintenance and upkeep of the store.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service:
    • Project a positive representation of Westlake Hardware, Inc.
    • Proactively assist customers in solving problems.
    • Greet customers entering and throughout the store, thanking them when finished and when they are leaving.
    • Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor, working well with customers and associates.
    • Ensure all pages and calls are answered promptly, courteously, and effectively.
    • Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management.
    • Possess good product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
  • Store Operations:
    • Responsible for cycle counting and maintaining desirable inventory levels in assigned departments.
    • Work with management staff to ensure preventative maintenance and repairs are completed to maximize and protect all physical assets.
    • Ensure accurate receiving, checking in, and stocking of merchandise in assigned departments.
    • Responsible for maintenance of back stock levels in assigned departments.
    • Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness, and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room, and outdoor merchandise area, especially in assigned departments.
    • Assist with overall maintenance of the store.
    • Ensure that weekly price changes are done in assigned departments.
    • Ensure that monthly cycle counts and negative on-hand reports are completed in assigned departments.
    • Assist with providing a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and ad merchandise.
    • Assist with merchandise resets throughout the store, especially in assigned departments.
    • Ensure signage is current in assigned departments.
    • Operate a forklift with proper training.
    • Communicate any Store Support Center issues to the General Manager for follow-up.
    • Participate in store meetings.
    • Communicate any merchandising, cost control, or sales ideas to the General Manager.
    • Be professional in appearance and actions.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Requirements
    • High School or GED equivalent.
    • Floor sales and/or replenishment experience in a retail environment preferred.
    • Standing, walking, lifting (up to 25lbs), and climbing.
