POSITION OVERVIEW

The role involves providing engineering analysis and technical assistance to ensure the dependable interconnection of new generation units to the ERCOT grid, adhering to NERC Standards, ERCOT Protocols, Planning Guide, and Market Guides.


ROLE SUMMARY

This position focuses on delivering electrical engineering analysis and technical support for the integration of new generation resources and the future development of the electric power infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include executing system modeling, creating tools and procedures for system studies, analyzing both simulated and actual operational outcomes, developing solutions for existing or potential system challenges, and effectively communicating findings and recommendations.

Involves analyzing transmission network data, including parameters of Transmission and Generation elements.

Evaluates the outcomes of simulated power system studies and may contrast them with actual operational data to ensure adherence to relevant standards.

Conducts power flow studies as necessary to assess the viability of proposed generation interconnections.
Reviews and formulates methods to enhance model precision, including data comparisons and validity assessments.
Creates, improves, and maintains reports related to Protocol and Guide compliance criteria.
Engages with all internal and external stakeholders throughout the interconnection process.
Collaborates closely with Client Services and System Planning.
Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or a combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with knowledge equivalent to a major in such fields.


Essential Experience:


Less than one year of progressively responsible experience in the electric utility sector beyond the educational requirements stated above.


Preferred Experience:
Some exposure to the electric utility industry.
Experience conducting power system load flow studies using PSSE.
Experience executing transfer analysis systems studies.
Ability to communicate technical requirements and information clearly.
Capability to produce technical reports detailing in-depth analyses.
Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, VBA, or others.
Experience in creating queries in Access, Oracle, or SQL.
Experience utilizing TARA.
