Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in compliance and/or auditing
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
  • In-depth understanding of risk assessment, internal controls, and auditing practices
  • General familiarity with information technology controls and data analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Adept at developing audit programs and testing workpapers in unfamiliar areas
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with peers, stakeholders, and leadership
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Big 4/Public Accounting firms
  • Background in the mortgage sector and consumer regulatory compliance auditing
  • Possession of CPA, CIA, CISA, or similar certifications
  • Technical proficiency with Audit Command Language (ACL) or equivalent data mining tools
Job Summary

As the Lead Auditor, you will be tasked with comprehending business operations and controls, planning, supervising, and executing audits, assessing internal controls, and collaborating with leadership to devise strategies that mitigate risks in a rapidly evolving public organization. You will report directly to the Internal Audit leadership team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, execute, and supervise compliance, operational, and financial audits to ensure adherence to regulations and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Oversee all phases of the audit process, including risk assessment, planning, audit program development, execution, and communication of findings to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with various teams to identify process enhancements that yield cost savings or revenue growth opportunities.
  • Conduct detailed analytical testing and review corporate policies for compliance with internal auditing standards and applicable regulations.
  • Identify and communicate control deficiencies and best practices to senior leadership.
  • Lead special projects as needed and manage time effectively for yourself and your team.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and coaching to team members.
