GENERAL PURPOSE
The Senior Manufacturing Operations Leader is accountable for the comprehensive performance of a multi-shift production environment. This role involves strategizing and executing operational goals across various domains, including safety, quality, efficiency, cost management, continuous improvement, employee engagement, and talent development. The position ensures alignment with corporate strategies and promotes initiatives that foster an exceptional workplace culture. Responsibilities include overseeing the formulation and execution of programs aimed at achieving these objectives, monitoring progress through established metrics, and implementing corrective actions as necessary. This leader will collaborate with diverse functional teams such as manufacturing, engineering, planning, information systems, supply chain management, and more to drive results.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Communications: Develop and implement a comprehensive organizational communication strategy that sets clear expectations for effective information sharing during shift meetings and company-wide gatherings.
  • Financial Management: Plan and oversee capital and operational expenditures for the facility, focusing on driving economic value added (EVA).
  • Operational Strategy: Lead the adoption of MillerKnoll Performance System (MKPS) and Lean manufacturing methodologies to promote continuous improvement and eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Strategic Direction: Collaborate with corporate resources to define the strategic vision for the facility and execute action plans that yield measurable results.
  • Culture Development: Create and implement strategies that cultivate a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Human Resources: Strategically plan for workforce development, ensuring optimal staffing levels, performance management, and adherence to company values and legal standards.
  • New Product Development: Provide leadership and oversight for the manufacturing aspects of new product introductions, ensuring designs are conducive to efficient production.
  • Quality Assurance: Manage the quality assurance program to guarantee product excellence, setting performance goals and collaborating with customer service and quality teams to address issues.
  • Reliability Management: Ensure the achievement of corporate on-time delivery goals through proactive planning and daily problem-solving.
  • Safety Oversight: Maintain a safe working environment by managing the plant's safety program and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to meet business objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, engineering, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8 - 10 years of successful management experience in operations and manufacturing, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership role.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Proven ability to establish strategic direction and lead the development of objectives and initiatives.
  • Experience in initiating and managing change within a manufacturing context, leveraging lean principles.
  • Strong understanding of business dynamics and the ability to enhance value through effective financial management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in utilizing office automation and communication tools relevant to the organizational environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities as defined by MillerKnoll's Leadership Skills and Behavior Model.
  • Ability to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.
