Job Overview

The Counter Sales Associate plays a pivotal role at Baker Distributing Company, a leading wholesale HVAC distributor. This position is responsible for driving sales and delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the company as a sales leader, ensuring maximum sales performance.
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders, including sales teams, vendors, and contractors.
  • Maintain showroom displays and restock products to meet customer needs.
  • Resolve customer relations issues promptly and effectively.
  • Process sales orders, upsell associated items, and provide customers with product and service information.
  • Serve walk-in and phone customers, sourcing and shipping parts, managing inventory, and administering warranties.
  • Apply suggestive selling techniques and up-sell to current and prospective customers.
  • Conduct outgoing customer sales or service calls and resolve complaints.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent communication skills, technical support background, HVAC parts knowledge, and customer service/sales experience with intermediate MS Office capabilities.
  • Customer Service, Data Entry, Estimating, Purchase Orders, Sales, Shipping/Receiving skills.
  • Minimum 1+ year of experience in a Counter Sales role, preferably in the HVAC industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of air conditioning, heating, and ventilation equipment at a wholesale distribution level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sales, problem-solving, and customer service focus essential.
  • Ability to work independently, meet assigned goals, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment, multi-tasking on different levels, and developing long-term relationships with customers.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per annum, based on experience and location.
