BWXT is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer for its Advanced Technologies division.

The Advanced Technologies (AT) group is dedicated to researching, designing, and developing cutting-edge nuclear reactors, nuclear propulsion systems, and radioisotope production systems for a diverse range of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed engineering activities including the creation of drawings, calculations, and technical reports.
  • Design mechanical components with a focus on assembly, testing, and inspection processes.
  • Apply design control and configuration management principles effectively.
  • Integrate design for manufacturing and operational efficiency concepts.
  • Acquire knowledge of new procedures, processes, and tools while overseeing various production stages.
  • Define procurement specifications for mechanical components and system functionality.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics is mandatory.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant professional experience is essential.
  • Experience with nuclear reactor core components and reactor vessel systems is required.
  • Familiarity with ASME Code, Sections III and VIII is necessary.
  • General understanding of project engineering tasks, including planning and scheduling.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while also working independently.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance is necessary.
