Position Overview:

The Environmental Compliance Inspector will play a crucial role in ensuring adherence to air quality regulations. This position involves conducting thorough evaluations of stationary sources that emit air pollutants, assessing compliance with both state and federal environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct Inspections:
Perform detailed field inspections to determine compliance status with air pollution regulations. Analyze data collected during inspections, compile emission calculations, and generate comprehensive inspection reports that meet regulatory standards.

2. Engage in Enforcement Actions:
Collaborate with supervisors and legal representatives to present findings related to alleged violations. Synthesize information gathered during inspections to support enforcement actions and facilitate resolution of compliance issues.

3. Provide Compliance Assistance:
Investigate citizen complaints regarding air quality, including odor issues, and document findings. Offer guidance to sources on regulatory requirements and assist in addressing potential violations.

4. Participate in Training:
Attend relevant training sessions to enhance skills and maintain certifications necessary for effective inspection and compliance monitoring.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a background in Atmospheric Science, Environmental Science, or a related field, with a minimum of four years of relevant experience. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders are essential for success in this role.

Work Environment:

This position may involve a hybrid work model, allowing for flexibility while ensuring necessary on-site presence as required by operational needs. The role supports the mission of the State of Colorado in promoting public health and environmental stewardship.
