Key Responsibilities
  • Content Oversight: Assist with the overall writing and production of the paper, ensuring high-quality content that meets the university's standards.
  • Leadership and Guidance: Meet weekly with section editors to discuss progress, provide guidance, and ensure alignment with the university's mission and vision.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Attend weekly general staff meetings to stay informed, address concerns, and foster a collaborative environment among team members.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain regular office hours in the newspaper office, collaborate with section correspondents to generate story ideas, and train section correspondents on InDesign and Photoshop skills.
  • Web Presence: Assist with uploading final PDF copies of the paper to the designated platform and meet with webmasters to ensure the website is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Reporting and Progress: Meet with the Assistant Director of Campus Life: Student Media to discuss progress and goals, and write one article per issue showcasing expertise and creativity.
Requirements
  • Student Status: Must be a student at Saint Xavier University.
  • Federal Work Study: Federal Work Study required.

Preferred qualifications include experience in journalism, communication, or English. The ideal candidate will possess strong writing, editing, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
