Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Inmate Accounts Specialist to join our team at Douglas County. As a key member of our corrections department, you will be responsible for managing inmate accounts, processing property inventories, and providing administrative support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify and process inmate deposits, including money received from inmates and the public.
  • Perform daily cash drops and reconcile cash drawers to ensure accuracy and security.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and process checks for government agencies, vendors, and the public on behalf of inmates.
  • Release account balances to inmates upon release from custody.
  • Adhere to department policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
  • Provide administrative support, including answering phone calls, providing basic information, and transferring calls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or directed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of clerical or cashiering experience required.
  • One year of experience/training with MS Office required.
  • Valid driver's license and own mode of transportation at the time of hire and maintained throughout employment required.
  • Experience working in a correctional facility or law enforcement agency preferred.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain Nebraska Notary Public and experience providing notary services preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Work performed indoors in an office setting within a correctional facility. Schedule will vary (e.g. shifts, holidays, weekends, overtime, emergency call-in). Noise level is usually moderate and occasionally loud. Work may be stressful when dealing with multiple/changing priorities, limited resources, time constraints and uncooperative and/or volatile individuals.
