Patient Care Responsibilities

Deliver patient care with a deep understanding of patient growth and development, tailored to the ages of the patients served.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe and report changes in residents' physical, mental, emotional, behavioral, and social well-being.
  • Take and record vital signs, reporting deviations from normal to the Primary or Charge Nurse.
  • Collect specimens as assigned (e.g., urine, stool, sputum).
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including skin care (e.g., bathing, dressing, helping patients ambulate).
  • Record oral intake and urinary output.
  • Perform assigned treatments (e.g., R.O.M., Dayroom Monitoring, Courtesy Cart).
  • Communicate effectively with Charge Nurse/Primary Nurse regarding patient needs and requests.
  • Orient patients to the environment and develop rapport with patients, family, and significant others.
Patient Care Related Duties

Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keep patient units and non-patient units clean (e.g., wiping tables, neatening storage rooms, pantries, and other areas).
  • Prepare bedside units for new admissions (e.g., stocking with bedpan, tissues, water, cups).
  • Apply principles of infection control and safety in the work environment.
  • Report significant unit problems to the Charge Nurse.
  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Customer Service

Provide exceptional customer service, demonstrating respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, a pleasant attitude, patience, and helpfulness in all interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to customer inquiries and concerns in a timely, professional, caring, and respectful manner.
  • Understand and adhere to the Medical Center's Code of Conduct.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Medical Center's Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.
Other Job Duties

Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend required in-service education classes (e.g., resident rights, advance directives, abuse prevention).
  • Effectively utilize the hospital computer system as it pertains to job responsibilities and in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Participate in orientation of nursing assistants.
  • Participate in unit committees and CQI activities as assigned.
  • Assist other personnel as necessary.
BASIC COMPETENCIES

Meet the minimum requirements for the position.

Key Requirements:

  • Successful completion of an approved Nurses Aide training course.
  • Minimum - High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Maintain Nurses Aide Certification.
  • Heartsaver certification.
  • 1 year of experience as a Nurse's Aide preferred.
