Overview
A Field Service Specialist plays a crucial role in the initiation, commissioning, integration, and troubleshooting of E+I Engineering 480VAC/15KVAC electrical switchgear systems. This includes working with Power Distribution Units (PDU), Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Power Distribution Centers (PDC), circuit breakers, protective relays, programmable logic controllers (PLC), meters, and various automated devices, as well as performing mechanical repairs and modifications under the guidance of senior technicians.

Key Responsibilities
The Field Service Specialist is expected to:

  • Assist in the start-up and commissioning of electrical switchgear systems.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and sales representatives.
  • Communicate effectively with the Customer Response Center (CRC), supervisors, and management.
  • Evaluate the operational status of equipment and provide timely feedback.
  • Perform general and preventive maintenance on switchgear.
  • Respond promptly to emergency service requests from customers.
  • Aim for a 'first-time fix' approach to service issues.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations.
  • Accurately report time cards and expense reports.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in electronics or field services.
  • Training in electrical theory and technologies.
  • Familiarity with electrical and electronic testing equipment.
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints related to power control and automation.
  • Knowledge of power distribution, AC/DC voltage circuit theory, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with PLC and HMI programming is advantageous.
  • Mechanical aptitude and a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Standard computer skills, including proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds regularly.
  • A valid driver's license.

Working Conditions
This position requires travel, with assignments typically lasting 3 to 5 weeks. Working hours may range from 10 to 12 hours per day, 5 to 6 days a week, including day or night shifts. The role involves significant hands-on fieldwork, with travel requirements potentially reaching up to 80%.
