Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Server Hardware Specialist to join our data center team. As a key member of our technical staff, you will be responsible for troubleshooting server connectivity issues, hardware break-fix activities, and network connectivity problems. You will work closely with our engineers to ensure that all hardware installations meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.
Primary Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot server hardware issues, including power supply and console connectivity problems.
- Perform basic hardware diagnostic and troubleshooting tasks, escalating complex issues to senior team members as necessary.
- Install new SSDs and NVMe drives into existing servers, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
- Assist engineers in troubleshooting autobuild nodes that fail to deploy correctly.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues at the physical layer, including port flapping, link issues, and other problems.
- Process and prepare server nodes for decommissioning, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth handover.
- Secondary responsibilities may include assisting level 3 team members with OS-level troubleshooting and network troubleshooting, ensuring data center house rules are followed, and maintaining data center cleanliness.
Requirements
- 2-4+ years of experience in a data center engineering role.
- 2+ years of network cabling experience.
- 1+ year of Linux troubleshooting experience.
- 2+ years of server hardware troubleshooting experience.
