Overview

Position Summary

Cadmus, LLC is seeking an Energy Efficiency Consultant to enhance our Energy Services division, concentrating on Commercial and Industrial Energy Optimization. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about measurement and verification, innovative technologies, and sustainable energy practices aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon footprints in industrial and commercial sectors.

This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage engineering expertise in a consulting capacity, enabling the analysis and interpretation of data regarding the performance of intricate systems in real-world scenarios. The role is integral to promoting the adoption of energy efficiency, demand response, renewable energy generation, and other distributed energy resources, including energy storage solutions for commercial and industrial clients.

The Energy Services team at Cadmus collaborates with clients to assess the effectiveness of energy efficiency initiatives, evaluate clean energy programs, and provide actionable insights through engineering assessments, analyses, and research. You will work alongside leading energy professionals to assist clients globally in integrating renewable energy, minimizing electricity usage, enhancing distributed energy systems, and achieving energy equity. Our efforts span from research and policy formulation to project execution, all aimed at advancing energy efficiency and distributed energy solutions in the marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

+ Evaluate industry trends to uncover new opportunities in decarbonization.

+ Cultivate new and repeat business for the division; identify fresh opportunities; assist in lead generation strategies and proposal crafting.

+ Innovate new products and services or enhance existing offerings to provide cutting-edge solutions.

+ Act as a reliable technical authority for the Cadmus team and its clientele.

+ Collaborate with clients (including utilities and governmental agencies) to define needs, pinpoint essential services or products, forge partnerships, and implement solutions.

+ Provide technical guidance for complex projects, collaborating with the team to create detailed measurement and verification plans, analytical methodologies, and calculation models.

+ Conduct site assessments at commercial and industrial locations to validate energy efficiency measure installations and operational parameters, gathering pertinent data for engineering analyses of energy savings.

+ Analyze gathered data using analytical tools such as Excel, Python, or R; identify trends; optimize models; summarize program activities; and assess impacts on program outcomes.

+ Communicate results and recommendations effectively to clients, staying informed on industry, regulatory, and market developments to provide strategic advice.

+ Collaborate efficiently with interdisciplinary teams, offering technical support and input for their projects.

+ Develop technical strategies for evaluation, measurement, and verification across various energy efficiency initiatives, adhering to relevant protocols.

+ Support intricate commercial and industrial projects by collaborating with the team to devise comprehensive measurement and verification plans, analytical methodologies, and calculation models.

+ Engage in research initiatives, ensuring consistency and quality in research methodologies.

+ Uphold high standards of quality assurance/control in research practices, engineering methods, and deliverables for all projects, defending methodologies and outcomes to expert stakeholders.

Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or chemical engineering, or a related discipline with 8-10 years of experience, or a Master’s degree in a related field with 6-8 years of experience.

+ Over 4 years of proven professional experience in commercial and industrial energy efficiency.

+ Strong enthusiasm for energy efficiency, carbon reduction technologies, and clean energy initiatives.

+ Experience in analyzing energy consumption in commercial and industrial systems, particularly HVAC, waste heat recovery systems, pumps, fans, and compressed air systems.

+ Proficiency in project planning and budget oversight.

+ Experience in managing teams, including staff planning, mentorship, and training.

+ Field experience in commercial and industrial settings, including site visits to verify energy efficiency installations and data collection.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Master’s degree.

+ Professional Engineer (PE) license.

+ Experience with energy metering equipment installation.

+ Familiarity with whole building simulation software such as eQuest, EnergyPlus, Trane Trace, and DOE-2.

+ Experience in Strategic Energy Management (SEM).

+ Technical knowledge of industrial decarbonization, low carbon technologies, and energy efficiency strategies.

+ Background in industrial process operations and optimization.
