Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY:

  • Collaborates in the assessment and management of patient care.
  • Accurately records the provision of medical services in patient files.
  • Conducts comprehensive patient interviews, documenting medical histories, psychosocial backgrounds, health conditions, and potential health concerns.
  • Under physician supervision, executes physical assessments and specialized diagnostic or therapeutic interventions, including the application and removal of casts, suturing wounds, and changing dressings.
  • Aids physicians in identifying medical issues, formulating care strategies, and recommending treatments.
  • Orders, coordinates, and/or conducts laboratory tests and diagnostic evaluations such as urinalyses, pregnancy tests, blood tests, and imaging studies.
  • Informs patients about the necessity, preparation, nature, and expected outcomes of scheduled medical procedures.
  • In partnership with physicians, organizes consultations or referrals to other healthcare professionals or community resources.
  • Provides education to patients regarding health practices, self-assessments, behavior modification, follow-up care, medication management, and other health-related topics.
  • Collaborates with management to develop a professional growth plan.
  • Participates in relevant educational sessions and engages in professional organizations to stay updated on current practices and advancements.
  • Maintains and updates precise patient records, including medical evaluations, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Gathers and interprets diagnostic information to implement effective patient care plans.
  • Prepares analytical reports and assessments for research initiatives and investigational protocols, documenting progress, adverse trends, and providing recommendations.
  • Educates and mentors other healthcare professionals, including students and residents, in specialized techniques and procedures.
  • Actively engages in health services committees within the organization.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
  • Current licensure as an advanced practice nurse in Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent, or certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Appropriate licensure in the state of Georgia.
  • A minimum of one year of direct experience in high-acuity clinical settings may be required.
  • Certifications in BLS, ACLS, and as a Healthcare Provider are mandatory.
