We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Duke Primary Care. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Take medical histories and record vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients and preparing them for examinations and procedures.
- Assist medical and nursing staff during examinations and procedures, collect and prepare laboratory specimens, and perform basic laboratory tests in the clinic/office.
- Take electrocardiograms, remove sutures/staples, change sterile and non-sterile dressings, and promote patient/family understanding of educational content and their involvement in the plan of care.
- Document patient records, dispose of contaminated supplies, process instruments, and perform high-level disinfection and sterilization of medical instruments.
- Telephonate prescriptions to pharmacies, prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician, and authorize drug refills as directed.
- Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA required.
- BLS required.
- Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
- High school or GED graduation required.
