Job Title:

Digital Imaging Technician

Job Summary:

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a highly skilled Digital Imaging Technician to join our team at the Harry Ransom Center. As a Digital Imaging Technician, you will be responsible for photographing and digitizing collection materials, ensuring quality control of digital images, and maintaining hardware and software in the Center's photography studio.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess digitization needs and perform digital imaging of the Harry Ransom Center's collections using digital cameras and other digital equipment.
  • Ensure quality control of digital images, performing post-processing tasks such as color correction and image enhancement.
  • Maintain hardware and software, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support.
  • Train, supervise, and review the work of student staff in the lab.
  • Consult and serve as a resource for staff on issues of digitization and the use of imaging hardware and software.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a photography-related field or Library Science.
  • Demonstrated experience with digital photography and digital reformatting.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital imaging software and hardware.
  • Familiarity with Capture One and/or Adobe Photoshop.
  • Good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a professional photography studio or digitization lab.
  • Familiarity with handling fragile library, archival, and museum materials.
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a standard office environment with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $42,000+ depending on qualifications. The University of Texas at Austin offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
