Job Title: Digital Imaging Technician

Join The University of Texas at Austin as a Digital Imaging Technician and contribute to the preservation and sharing of the university's extraordinary collections.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to work in our photography studio, responsible for digitizing collection materials, ensuring quality control of digital images, and maintaining hardware and software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess digitization needs and perform digital imaging of collections using digital cameras and equipment.
  • Ensure quality control of digital images, performing post-processing tasks such as color correction and image enhancement.
  • Maintain hardware and software, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support.
  • Train and supervise student staff in the lab, and consult with staff on issues of digitization and imaging hardware and software.
  • Work with staff in Digital Collection Services and other departments to create and maintain production workflows.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a photography-related field or Library Science.
  • Demonstrated experience with digital photography and digital reformatting.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital imaging software and hardware.
  • Familiarity with Capture One and/or Adobe Photoshop.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a professional photography studio or digitization lab.
  • Familiarity with handling fragile library, archival, and museum materials.
What We Offer

The University of Texas at Austin offers a competitive salary range of $42,000+ depending on qualifications, and a comprehensive benefits package.

This is a regular staff position with a regular schedule of 30 or 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
