The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) & Risk Management (RM) Manager plays a crucial role in enhancing EHS excellence within the organization. This position is dedicated to leading compliance efforts and facilitating the implementation of EHS & RM initiatives, practices, and security strategies aimed at achieving outstanding performance standards. The EHS & RM Manager is pivotal in fostering a culture of safety and ensuring effective programs are in place to identify and mitigate potential risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic guidance and oversight in alignment with Corporate EHS & Risk Management for environmental, occupational health, safety, industrial hygiene, and security matters.
- Ensure adherence to diverse regulatory groups and EHS programs, complying with federal, state, and local regulations to promote continuous improvement and a safe work environment.
- Assist in addressing safety-related regulatory compliance challenges and support the development and implementation of company safety policies and standards.
- Lead cross-functional teams to tackle EHS and security issues, proposing strategic and tactical responses while advising site leadership on impacts and mitigation strategies.
- Implement a robust incident investigation process to ensure thorough analysis and identification of root causes for incidents.
- Support site leadership and employees in achieving zero incidents related to environmental and employee health and safety by analyzing incident data to identify preventable trends.
- Act as the primary EHS liaison for regulatory agencies and internal departments, fostering collaborative relationships across various teams.
- Participate in the EHS & Risk Management network, representing the organization in communities, conferences, and audits to develop and implement consistent EHS programs.
- Support Workers' Compensation loss control initiatives and related reporting requirements.
- Coordinate the Plant Safety Committee and participate in safety orientations for new employees.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring and maintain equipment.
- Support plant EHS audits and maintain safety documentation.
- Coach and mentor new EHS & RM leaders, providing guidance and support.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for EHS programs, assisting EHS leaders with compliance efforts.
- Lead training sessions for EHS & RM tools and best practices across sites.
Qualifications:
Minimum education required: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or technical discipline.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years in a relevant field.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Expertise in OSHA/EPA regulations and EHS best practices.
- Strong leadership and strategic planning capabilities.
- Proficient in risk assessment, hazard recognition, and worker compensation administration.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and team-building skills.
