BCForward is seeking a highly skilled Inventory Control Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing the inventory of critical parts and consumable materials to support research, maintenance, and manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inventory control, with experience in managing inventory levels, receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations. You will also be responsible for utilizing computerized inventory systems to track MRO parts and materials, and managing the induction of new parts, including storage location creation and reporting metrics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records using industry-standard control practices.
- Support receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by enforcing operational policies and procedures.
- Utilize computerized inventory systems to track MRO parts and materials, and manage the induction of new parts.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies with computer-generated reports.
- Assist mechanics and technicians in sourcing parts and materials, and provide daily updates to enhance communication across shifts.
- Perform routine clerical duties, including data entry and customer assistance.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma; college coursework in inventory control or business preferred.
- 5 years of experience in a parts supply house or similar environment.
Skills & Abilities:
- Familiarity with materials and tools used in trades such as plumbing and electrical work.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and understand industrial machinery components.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with CMMS/ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of purchasing experience for MRO materials.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted and navigate stairs/step ladders.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
