Position Overview
The Food Service Assistant plays a crucial role in the preparation, delivery, and service of food products, ensuring adherence to safe food handling practices in alignment with HACCP guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, mixing, assembling, portioning, serving, and storing of food in accordance with established guidelines.
- Operate dishwashing equipment, clean pots, and perform thorough cleaning tasks while following safety and sanitation protocols.
- Transport food, supplies, and waste as directed.
- May serve as a cashier in the cafeteria, managing transactions effectively.
- Adhere to set-up and clean-up procedures for assigned workstations.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Preferred: At least 1 year of relevant work experience.
- Preferred: Experience in retail food service.
- Required: Food Handlers Card - Washington.
- Strong customer service skills are essential.
- Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation practices is required.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Effective communication skills are necessary to perform job functions safely and efficiently.
Lifting Requirements
- Continuous movement throughout the work area.
- Frequent lifting of up to 22 lbs; occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent reaching, bending, and stooping; occasional squatting and kneeling.
- Ability to work in a noisy environment.
- Exposure to heated surfaces and liquids.
- Vision and hearing must be within normal limits (corrective devices permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information is required.
