Tax Compliance Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Service Representative to join our revenue services division at the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for examining evidentiary records, computing penalties and interest, and providing technical assistance to taxpayers and child support customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Examine tax returns, contracts, and child support case management activities to ensure accuracy and compliance with laws and regulations.
- Compute penalties, interest, and refunds due, and prepare forms to bill or refund taxpayers.
- Interview custodial and non-custodial parents and contacts employers, neighbors, and landlords to obtain information to document evidence of paternity or financial resources.
- Assist taxpayers and child support customers with payment processing or related case problems.
- Maintain updated manuals and computerized files, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Ability to provide information and assistance to taxpayers or child support customers regarding laws, regulations, and reporting procedures.
- Ability to identify and correct discrepancies in evidentiary records, tax returns, financial, or payments records.
Salary and Benefits:
The estimated annual salary for this position is $42,805-$66,786, depending on experience and qualifications. The State of Arkansas offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
