Job Summary

The Vice President of Communications and Marketing Operations will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications, employee engagement, and marketing strategy that supports Mercury's business objectives, enhances its reputation, and strengthens its global brand presence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategic communications and marketing plan that aligns with the company's vision, mission, and priorities to foster a cohesive culture.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, industry analysts, and influencers, serving as the company's primary spokesperson and managing media inquiries, interviews, and press releases.
  • Oversee internal communications strategies in partnership with HR to ensure consistent and clear messaging across the organization, fostering employee engagement by promoting a transparent, informed, inclusive, and connected workforce.
  • Lead the company's crisis communication efforts, including preparing for and responding to emergencies, controversies, or other high-stakes situations, developing and maintaining crisis communication plans and protocols.
  • Direct marketing operations, including branding, analytics, content creation, and promotional campaigns, collaborating closely across the organization to reinforce the employer brand.
  • Direct the company's digital communications and marketing strategy, including content creation, social media management, and online reputation management, leveraging digital tools to enhance brand visibility and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure consistent brand messaging across all communication and marketing channels, managing corporate branding initiatives to enhance both external and internal brand perception.
  • Partner with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to develop and deliver key messages to internal and external audiences, including speeches, presentations, and thought leadership content, taking a lead role in organizing communications and content for special events, including investor presentations and other external stakeholder engagements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing communications and marketing team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and respect within the department.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in communications, marketing, or related roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position, including positions in an operating unit and in a corporate office.
  • Proven track record in leading communications and marketing strategy within the aerospace, technology, or defense industries.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience serving as a company spokesperson.
  • Strong understanding of media relations, digital communications, marketing operations, and social media strategies.
  • Experience managing crisis communications and navigating complex, high-stakes situations.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with media and industry stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to align communications and marketing strategy with business goals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong preference for experience in Aerospace & Defense industry or experience working in a technology-focused organization.
Additional Information

This position requires occasional travel. May be required to obtain and maintain security clearance. This position requires you to have the ability to obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.

Mercury considers a variety of factors to determine individual base salary offers to candidates, including the role and related responsibilities, prior work experience, education, training, skills, and certifications, internal equity with others employed by Mercury in similar roles, geographic location, and alignment with market data.
