Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Charge Nurse to oversee the delivery of exceptional nursing care within our Med Surg 3 unit. This full-time position operates on the night shift and offers a sign-on bonus.
Unit Details:
The surgical unit comprises 29 beds, catering to a diverse patient demographic that includes surgical, trauma, and various medical cases. Our surgical procedures typically range from neck to abdominal surgeries, including gastrointestinal surgeries such as colon and small bowel resections, cholecystectomies, and appendectomies. Additionally, we provide care for vascular surgeries, mastectomies, thyroidectomies, and maxillofacial procedures. Patients may present with ostomies, nasogastric tubes, feeding tubes, and drains.
Trauma patients may have multiple injuries, including chest tubes and tracheostomies, but are stable enough for admission to a non-ICU/step-down medical-surgical floor. As a level 2 trauma center, we are committed to providing high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate the provision of quality nursing care for patients across the lifespan while managing operational aspects during your shift.
2. Deliver clinical care as required based on patient census.
3. Communicate effectively regarding patient care, departmental matters, and staff concerns to the appropriate leadership.
4. Serve as a resource for guidance and support to nursing staff.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Minimum Experience:
At least one year of nursing experience in a hospital environment is required.
Licensure/Certification:
Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Georgia or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. BLS certification is mandatory.
Additional Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will have two or more years of nursing experience in a hospital setting, a Bachelor's degree, and advanced certification in their specialty area, if applicable. Demonstrated clinical competency is essential.
