Position Overview

Turner & Townsend is in search of a skilled Senior Cost Consultant / Quantity Surveyor to deliver cost management and estimation services for a prominent technology client's extensive data center construction initiative.

Success in this role requires exceptional communication abilities and a comfort level in client-facing situations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Estimate and negotiate modifications throughout the construction process.
  • Develop and present comprehensive cost plans.
  • Collaborate with design teams and contractors to refine cost estimates.
  • Verify changes and assist contractors in maintaining accurate data.
  • Engage with contractors and project managers to gather status updates for cost estimate revisions.
  • Draft detailed feedback on contractor submissions, including executive summaries.
  • Coordinate various cost information sources for discussions and supplier data.
  • Guide engineering priorities based on cost implications.
  • Proactively address scheduling challenges with minimal oversight.
  • Oversee cost evaluations and valuations for larger projects, ensuring timely and precise processes.
  • Effectively manage post-contract cost variances and change control protocols.
  • Handle cost impact assessments and maintain commitment tracking logs.
  • Prepare funding presentations and facilitate value engineering sessions with stakeholders.
Pre-Contract Responsibilities
  • Formulate cost plans and estimates during the design phase, providing updates at key milestones.
  • Offer commercial insights during design evaluations and value engineering efforts.
  • Review contractor pricing and lead negotiations to secure fair contract terms.
Post-Contract Responsibilities
  • Conduct quantity surveying, cost control, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure effective management of post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
  • Supervise cost auditing and valuation activities, establishing a robust validation process.
  • Generate monthly cost reports for client presentations.
  • Facilitate timely negotiations and agreements on final accounts.
  • Compile as-built cost estimates for benchmarking purposes.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in construction cost management roles.
  • Degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field.
  • RICS accreditation or progress towards it.
  • Experience leading cost management on medium to large-scale construction projects of varying complexity.
  • Strong understanding of construction industry technical matters, including procurement methods, value management, and value engineering.
