Position Overview

The Hamilton-Madison House's Early Childhood Services is in search of a dedicated Assistant Teacher for our Early Childhood Program, catering to children aged 3-5 years. We are looking for a nurturing, responsible, and committed educator who is attuned to the needs of young children and their families, and who collaborates effectively with colleagues.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma with CDA credential or an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, accompanied by one year of experience teaching children aged 3-5.
  • Certification as an Assistant Teacher.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and an Asian language is preferred.
  • Ability to engage positively and patiently with children, parents, and staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant educational technologies.
Key Responsibilities

Work within the framework of the child care center's sponsoring agency, executing its functions, policies, and procedures:

Interaction with Children
  • Engage affectionately and respectfully with all children daily, including smiling and providing comfort.
  • Be responsive to children's needs, inquiries, and requests.
  • Encourage and model appropriate social behaviors.
  • Ensure safety during play by intervening when necessary.
  • Communicate directly with children at their level.
Health, Safety, and Environment
  • Supervise assigned groups of children consistently.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including accident reports and allergy lists.
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment, promoting respect for classroom materials.
  • Organize the classroom into well-defined centers to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Understand responsibilities as a mandated reporter.
Curriculum Development
  • Assist the Group Teacher in creating and implementing a rich, developmentally appropriate curriculum focused on the holistic growth of children.
  • Support in planning and executing child-centered activities.
  • Document children's achievements through various methods.
  • Utilize community resources to enrich the educational experience.
  • Adapt instruction to meet the individual needs of children.
Collaboration and Professionalism
  • Maintain open communication with supervisors regarding children's care and safety.
  • Foster a collaborative environment with co-workers.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rates based on qualifications and experience.

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday.
