Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee management and administrative functions of the laboratory.
- Develop and implement policies, ensuring regulatory compliance and quality assurance.
- Supervise laboratory supervisors, clinical staff, and support personnel.
Key Skills Required:
- Expertise in managing and drafting processes and procedures.
- Ability to train and present technical information effectively to staff.
- Experience in quality assurance and quality control within laboratory settings.
- Fiscal management and budgeting capabilities.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Evaluating laboratory operations in consultation with pathologists and ensuring adherence to established protocols.
- Maintaining medical laboratory equipment performance through the development of operational and troubleshooting procedures.
- Managing inventory levels of medical laboratory supplies and anticipating future needs.
- Monitoring laboratory productivity and identifying workload trends.
- Participating in the hospital's quality assurance program and conducting proficiency surveys.
- Recruiting, training, and evaluating laboratory staff while ensuring compliance with continuing education requirements.
- Contributing to benchwork as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology.
- Certification as SBB(ASCP) is mandatory.
- A minimum of five years of managerial experience is required.
