Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to serve as the Assistant Vice President, Enterprise Systems and Services. This role will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of enterprise-scale administrative systems, as well as leading a team of IT professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with functional leadership to create annual development plans for each major system.
  • Contribute to developing high-level IT Services department goals and manage resources to achieve these goals.
  • Develop department goals aligned with IT Services and institutional priorities.
  • Oversee the creation of professional development plans for staff and participate in performance management.
  • Lead transformation efforts with Agile development and develop processes and tools.
  • Work collaboratively with other IT departments to achieve unit and departmental objectives.
  • Act as a liaison to various departments and offices.
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues across the IT Services department.
  • Work through governance processes to prioritize and manage workloads effectively.
  • Develop effective relationships with distributed IT staff and leadership.
  • Identify and address issues impacting the successful completion of the Assistant Vice President's commitments.
  • Collaborate with IT Services Senior and Operational Leadership teams on planning, executing, and managing ITS projects.
  • Coordinate projects or commitments and direct reports, including special projects.
  • Participate in various committees and working groups.
  • Lead strategic projects such as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for administrative applications, implementation of a state-of-the-art student system, and development of master data management strategy.
  • Manage employees through senior managers. Oversees the development of performance goals, establishes the structure for allocating resources and assessing division or University policies.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and management of IT Services projects. Directs front-line troubleshooting and problem solving.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in computer science, information technology, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience with enterprise-scale administrative systems, including implementing large-scale application systems using various database technologies and hardware platforms.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a R1 university managing a mix of custom-developed and third-party software solutions, including client-server, SaaS, Cloud, and web technologies.
  • Proven experience leading and managing a team of at least 75 information technology professionals.
  • Managing software vendors and contract requirements.
  • Financial and operational management experience, especially in a complex, central service provider supporting a diverse portfolio.
  • Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or ITIL Foundation Certification.
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) applications in administrative systems.
  • ERP implementation and support, including financial systems, human resources systems, student systems, and CRM systems.
  • Oracle Financials, Workday HCM and/or Salesforce.
  • Knowledge of educational data standards and regulations.

  • Strong change management and leadership skills with the ability to implement new systems and redesign work processes.
