Job Title: Deep Ocean Scientist

SpecPro Sustainment and Environmental, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Deep Ocean Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will provide critical support to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) in understanding the impacts of climate change on BOEM-regulated activities in the deep waters of the Ocean Continental Shelf (OCS).

The successful candidate will conduct a comprehensive literature review to inform resource-management decisions for activities such as offshore wind, oil and gas, marine minerals, and carbon sequestration. Your expertise will be essential in identifying habitats and species of concern within the OCS area, compiling and synthesizing information on climate change effects, and providing recommendations for future needs and management practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature and data compilation, review, and synthesis with relevant, up-to-date information and state-of-the-science information
  • Identify habitats and species of concern within the OCS area
  • Compile and synthesize info on climate change effects; Identify impact on habitat and/or species of concern
  • Provide recommendations for future needs and management practices related to climate change
  • Create resources and outreach materials for subject matter experts and general public detailing results of literature search
  • Develop an annotated bibliography
  • Present findings and participate in webinars as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited university in related field
  • Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy Degree preferred
  • Working knowledge of ocean energy policy, regulatory agencies, NEPA, Coastal Zone Management Act
  • Working knowledge of deep ocean climate impacts
