In collaboration with the guidance from the Director of Internship & Development, the University Talent Acquisition Specialist is tasked with overseeing campus recruitment and selection initiatives for the Network Office. This position will implement recruitment strategies to achieve selection process objectives and goals related to intern contracts and conversions. Key competencies for success in this role include: strong interpersonal skills, effective prioritization, excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and a results-oriented mindset.
Key ResponsibilitiesSourcing
- Establish and nurture effective referral networks:
- In-office: current and former interns, financial representatives, staff, leadership
- On-campus: contacts of influence, faculty, department heads, athletics, career services, student organizations
- Engage actively in campus clubs and organizations to enhance and promote the Northwestern Mutual brand
- Coordinate advertising and marketing efforts on campus, including the career services website, online job postings, and promotional materials such as ads, direct mail, and community events
- Build relationships with fellow Northwestern Mutual recruiters to exchange leads and best practices
- Prepare and maintain recruitment and marketing collateral
- Plan, schedule, and oversee on-campus recruitment activities
Selection
- Take responsibility for specific aspects of the selection process, including screening candidates, conducting initial interviews, administering selection tools, and guiding candidates through the selection journey
- Review resumes and arrange initial interviews
- Communicate effectively regarding all aspects of the financial representative career and the selection process
Accountability, Tracking, and Analysis
- Provide weekly updates on campus recruitment activities to the leadership team
- Utilize home office-supported software to maintain candidate databases and accurate records of prospects, ensuring an efficient selection process
- Assist in organizing leadership team meetings and preparing activity/results reports
- Analyze recruitment metrics to identify inefficiencies in the selection process and implement improvements
- May involve oversight of contract and licensing responsibilities
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 1-3 years of professional experience, ideally in sales, recruitment, or a related field
- Experience in the financial services sector is advantageous
- Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and engage with individuals at all levels
- Experience in prospecting and generating leads through phone or face-to-face interactions is preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of sourcing platforms such as LinkedIn, Indeed, and Handshake
- A strong network of personal and professional advocates, along with established campus relationships
