Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Social Services Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing advanced social services and case management work to families and individuals in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide case management services for children and pregnant women, including eligibility determination, needs assessments, and service planning.
  • Collaborate with community groups, public health entities, and regional program staff to promote efforts to service families with children who have health risks, conditions, and special health care needs.
  • Conduct home visits, intakes, family needs assessments, service plans, and follow-up services to families on caseload.
  • Link families to community resources and provide information and referral services.
  • Participate in quality assurance and technical assistance policies and procedures, and maintain proper documentation of all work events.
  • Assist in training new staff, volunteers, and social worker interns, and participate in peer review for regional quality assurance.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of case management principles and practices, as well as children's programs such as Medicaid, CSHCN, Case Management for Children & Pregnant Women, CPS/Foster Care, SSI, NBS, NBHS, Lead, Early Childhood Intervention (ECI), and CHIP.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member in an interdisciplinary setting, and to interpret and apply program policies and procedures.
  • Ability to provide professional leadership, maintain confidentiality, and plan work in an orderly manner to manage caseloads and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to provide training and technical assistance to professionals, and to speak and write effectively and to address audiences in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in social work or a related field.
  • Experience working with children and families in a social services or case management setting.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and technical assistance policies and procedures.
  • Ability to speak and write effectively in English and Spanish.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to conduct home visits and attend community events. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
