Key Responsibilities

As a Security Enforcement Officer within the Security Protective Service (SPS) at the CIA, your primary duties will include:
  • Safeguarding CIA personnel, facilities, and information in accordance with Federal laws and Agency regulations.
  • Controlling access to Agency facilities through proactive measures to mitigate potential threats.
  • Responding to emergencies, providing medical assistance, executing arrests, and enforcing traffic regulations.
  • Acting as the primary responder during emergencies and facilitating orderly evacuations when necessary.
  • Representing the Agency with professionalism and effectively engaging with the public.
  • Participating in a diverse range of security and law enforcement operations across various units, including K-9, bomb squad, and emergency planning.
Newly appointed Security Protective Service Cadets will undergo extensive training to prepare for their responsibilities. This training includes twelve weeks at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, Georgia, followed by specialized instruction at SPS facilities. Afterward, further assessments will be conducted before officially assuming the role of Security Enforcement Officer. Throughout your career, you will receive ongoing training in areas such as law enforcement procedures, criminal law, and defensive tactics to enhance your skills and ensure readiness for any situation. Security Enforcement Officers at the CIA work in shifts covering eight hours, including weekends and holidays, with occasional overtime requirements.
Conditions of Employment

  • Applicants must be physically present in the United States or its territories when submitting their resume.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old (dual-national U.S. citizens are eligible), and willing to relocate.
  • All candidates must successfully pass comprehensive medical, psychological, and background evaluations to qualify for the position.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least twenty-one years old at the time of appointment.
  • No history of felony convictions or domestic violence.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, physical and psychological fitness, and successful completion of the SPS/CIA Police Pre-Employment Physical Efficiency Battery.
Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in military, law enforcement, or security fields is preferred.
Education Requirements

  • Minimum: High School diploma or GED.
  • Desired: Associate or bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related fields from an accredited institution may be considered in lieu of extensive experience.
