About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at Turning Point of Central California, Inc. You will work closely with our experienced professionals to deliver high-quality nursing care to patients and clients in our outpatient programs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide expert nursing care to patients, including administering medications, charting records, and communicating with healthcare teams.
  2. Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain accurate records.
  3. Assist with medical treatments, procedures, and general patient care, promoting independence and self-reliance.
  4. Transport patients to appointments and laboratories for tests, ensuring safe and timely transport.
  5. Counsel individuals, intervene in crises, and provide pre-care coverage, demonstrating empathy and compassion.
  6. Conduct daily living skills sessions and resocialization activity groups, fostering social connections and community engagement.
  7. Collaborate with physicians on patient care and medication adjustments, ensuring optimal outcomes.
  8. Participate in treatment programs, encouraging patient participation and self-reliance, promoting positive behavioral change.
  9. Maintain accurate clinical notes, reporting significant changes to professional staff, and monitoring client medication administration.
  10. Promote effective communication with monolingual Spanish-speaking clients and families, demonstrating cultural competence.

Requirements:

  • Possess a valid license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Psychiatric Technician issued by the State of California.
  • Knowledge of mental health concepts, physical, emotional, and social needs of emotionally disturbed individuals.
  • Fundamentals of psychiatric and mental health nursing care, basic medical and psychiatric terminology.
  • Ability to apply routine psychiatric/medical nursing care to mentally ill patients.
  • Recognize symptoms indicative of adverse patient reactions, communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  • Bilingual skills preferred, with intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office and other software.
  • Possess a valid driver's license, access to dependable transportation, and Agency insurer authorization.
  • Pass a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and TB test.
